Indian citizens residing in UAE who are holding handwritten and 20-year passports with validity beyond November 24, 2015 are required to apply for Machine Readable Passports (MRP)."From November 25, 2015 onwards foreign governments may deny visa or entry to INDIAN CITIZENS who are travelling with a non- MRP passport".
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has put a deadline of the 24th November 2015 at a global level for phasing out all non-Machine Readable Passports (MRPs). From 25th November 2015 onwards, foreign Governments may deny visa or entry to any person travelling with a non-MRP passport.
"Effective 22nd September 2014 all Miscellaneous services related to Indian Passport such as (Spouse name endorsement, Deletion of Spouse name, Endorsement for Change of Address, Extension of Validity and Cancellation of ECR Endorsement) will have to apply for a New Passport and pay the complete fees for the passport and Endorsements Services are no longer accepted."
